Wind Direction

South Southwest works well at Hordle cliff.

Winging

Horlde Cliff is great for the experienced Wingers who are after some long rolling swell with few peopple to get in the way of your wave.

There is a sand bar to watch out for and the dumpy shore waves at high tide can be unforgiving.

The current can carry to towards the sea defences at the end of the beach toward Milford on Sea so it is important toy can get your self out of the shore break and get going as quick as possible.

Kitesurfing

Kitesurfing isn't recommenced on this beach as the cliff can cause an updraft that will make the kite uncontrolable.

Windsurfing

Hordle Cliff is not so popular for windsurfing as the trek up and down the stairs for a different sail or board makes it tricky.

Avon beach is a better spot

SUP & Kayaking/Canoeing

Only really for the more experienced as the current here is strong even on calm days and the beach is more open to the swell that rolls through.

Wind Direction

We wouldn't recommend going out in winds more than 15 knots or 17 miles per hour.

A West and North West wind will blow you away from the shore on the solent side and an East wind will blow you from the beach in the lagoon.

Safety

Always wear a leash and a bouyancy aid that fits you.

With wind sports it is a  good idea to wear a helment as well.

A pair of beach shoes is recomended at Calshot as the shingle is sharp.

If in doubt don't go out!
